Finally, it has emerged that Coldplay is almost ready with their much-awaited, slightly delayed album. The yet-to-be named album was originally supposed to release by Christmas 2010. The band has now confirmed that the album will be out by 2011.
The lead singer, Chris Martin, husband of actress Gwyneth Paltrow said, "We're down to 15. I'm trying to make sure there are three songs that start with the same letter. On the last album it was 'L'. It might be 'U' this time. One of them is 'Up With The Birds'. It might be a duet, but we don't know who with yet. The other two might change."
The songs "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" and "Hurts Like Heaven" will most likely feature in the album, and the other songs will focus on showcasing the talent of guitarist Jonny Buckland.
Martin says, "'Hurts Like Heaven' is all Jonny. It only has two chords. The songs are group-y, its guitar-y. Johnny is coming out of his cocoon. We're just trying some risky things. We're hungry and very fired up. In five years we'll be in our late 30s. You have to have your best work done by then."
The rocker said that the inspiration behind the lyrics of the album is the White Rose Movement and New York graffiti, because he admires both.
"It's about being free to be yourself and express yourself among negative surroundings. Being able to speak out or follow your passion, even if everybody seems against it."
Meanwhile, the band will be releasing a festive song called "Christmas Lights" on December 1st. They will also be performing two gigs for the homeless charity Crisis at Newcastle and Liverpool.
